Frequently asked questions

What are lip fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore volume, enhance shape, improve definition and support facial balance. Most of the fillers used in aesthetics are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body.
Will my lips look natural?
That’s always the aim. Treatment is planned around your existing features and facial proportions, with the focus on achieving a natrual, subtle enhancement rather than making you look like a different person.
How long do lip fillers last?
Longevity varies depending on the product used, amount injected and the individual response. Results can commonly last anywhere from around 6 to 18 months.
Will I see the result straight away?
Yes, you’ll usually notice a difference immediately. However, swelling is common after treatment, so the final result is better assessed once the area has settled.
Does lip filler hurt?
You may feel some pressure, pinching or stinging during treatment. Many dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic, and additional numbing may be used depending on the treatment area.
How much do lip fillers cost?
Lip fillers are priced at £150 per syringe. It's uncommon for someone to need more than one syringe, however, in cases where lips need to be built up over time, multiple syringes may be required.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is usually minimal, although swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common after dermal filler treatment. Lip filler in particular can swell noticeably for the first few days. Most people can return to their usual activities straight away, although the area may take a little time to fully settle.
Are there any side effects?
Common temporary side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness and mild discomfort around the injection sites, which can typically last for a few days, especially with lip filler. Less commonly, lumps, asymmetry, infection or inflammatory reactions can occur. Rare but serious complications can include blockage of a blood vessel, which requires urgent assessment, sometimes requiring the filler to be dissolved.
Can lip filler be dissolved?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if clinically appropriate. Dissolving treatment has its own risks and requires assessment beforehand.
Can I have filler while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not recommend elective dermal filler treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
